Prose is a funny old thing.
It's kindly and comforting and generally quite smooth. It can be prettied up in all sorts of ways, with metaphores and similies and cheap analogies. As a reader, prose is generally the thing you expect. As a writer, prose is generally the first thing you learn.
For a while there, I got sick of prose. It wasn't anything Prose did. I just needed some space- you know how it is. Every relationship requires room to breathe. So I tried script-writing, just to see what it was like.
Except... scripts aren't really meant to be read, they're meant to be performed. And frankly, script-writing just wasn't pretty enough. So I decided to combine the two styles, amp up the prettiness, and make scripts that were meant to be read. I suppose you might consider it an odd experiment, a way of fiddling with formatting. Getting myself to write in new shapes and directions.
Actually, all of the above is a lie. I was just really bored one afternoon. Turns out undisciplined Not-Scripts are way faster to write than more traditional styles and, dammit, I'm a man for instant gratification.
You'll be happy to know that Prose and I are talking to each other once again. We may even get back together but- what's that, dear? Yes, I know. One step at a time. Meanwhile, why not check out the end results of my brash experimentation. Perhaps there will be something you like? You'll find them below.
They're quite pretty.
